Upon graduating, I plan to gain more hands-on experience working in a childcare or a kindergarten classroom. I will join AECEO (Association of Early Childhood Educators Ontario) which will keep me updated with professional development in the childcare field.

 

The areas I would like to focus on for my future professional growth include critical thinking, problem solving and leadership. Organizations like ARCQE provide workshops and seminars in these areas.

 

Critical thinking and problem solving are both valuable skills for ECEs. Through critical thinking, I will be able to make more accurate observations and plan better activities. With problem solving i will be able more equipped when faced with challnging scenarios. Lastly, leadership skills will help to learn to be more assertive in team situtions.

 

I am also eager to learn to play a musical instrument like the guitar. Children love music and it is a great way to bond with them. Research shows that music improves social and cognitive development in young children.

 

My long term goal is to go to Teacher's College and become a certified teacher in the board of education. With my background in ECE and a teacher's degree, I believe I would be the ideal candidate to teach kindergarten.
